There are a few programs that offer a 30-day free trial. You can get all the gift certificates they allow and then cancel your membership during the trial period.
1) Purchase something from Vistaprint. I got a rubber stamped for free with $5 shipping/handling.
Then they ask if you would like to join programs such as 24Protect (you can get $1500 worth of Lowes and Home Depot gift certificates at 20% off).
You can also buy gift cards at retailers like Circuit City, Best Buy, and Circuit City. The 2nd week in any given month is the best time to join. Why? Let’s say you purchase a $100 Lowes gift certificate.
The full amount will be due at the time of purchase. However, they will credit $20 to your credit card at month’s end. You can then cancel the program. Please read the policy again.
2) See Backporch for 20% off your gift cards to major retailers, gas cards, and restaurant gift cards. You can join 3 programs (Savings2go and backporch) for $8.95 per month, with a 30-day free trial.
To join, call customer service at 1-800-272-6611 and ask about the program you are interested in.
For faster access, you should call and return the call after 3 days. They limit you to buying 3 $25 gift cards per month from each retailer.
You can order as much as you want, and then you can cancel your membership. Check your credit card statement. I had to call them back to remind me to cancel the first month’s membership fee.
Although it is annoying, if you need more gift cards, you can use another phone number or a family member to call when you sign up again. Please refer to their policy and contact customer service for all details.
